As a social phenomenon and a source of economic development, tourism can increase pressure on the environment. Paris, with a record number of tourists over the last ten years, is no exception to this tendency. The Parisian hotel industry must reconsider its environmental impact (climate change, depletion of energy resources, environmental health, etc.). The development of ecological hotels, concerned with the preservation of the environment, is therefore of great importance.

In September 2009, Hotel des Voyageurs, already known for its good value, its cultural initiatives, and its friendly atmosphere, changed its name and became the Solar Hotel, the first ecological, economical and activist hotel. Solar Hotel has a genuine environmental policy as part of its day-to-day strategy and management. The services offered by the hotel are entirely in keeping with environmental concerns. Solar Hotel is committed to an overall approach of ecotourism, sustainable development, protection of the environment and of the health of its guests, and chooses to maintain extremely economical rates.

For all these reasons, Solar Hotel has chosen to be the first eco-hotel, low cost and militant at a time and yet all this, at the heart of Paris in the Denfert-Rochereau area close to the Montparnasse cemetery.
